Program Overview
Safe Kids of Vigo County helps families prevent childhood injuries through local safety education, hands-on car seat checks, and community programming—ensuring children stay safe at home, at play, and on the road.
About the Program
Safe Kids of Vigo County shares one mission: keeping children safe from preventable injuries. Supported by Union Health and operated through CASY, the coalition offers evidence-based safety programs designed for local needs. These include car seat check and distribution events, hands-on installation training, and safety workshops that empower caregivers with lifesaving knowledge.
Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians help families:
- Obtain car seats if they qualify for program assistance.
- Safely install, fit, and adjust car seats or boosters they already own.
- Know when it’s time to transition a child to an adult seat belt.
The program also provides educational outreach and Safe Sitter training to equip future caregivers with essential safety and CPR skills.
Through these ongoing efforts, Safe Kids of Vigo County continues to serve as a trusted community resource—empowering families with practical tools and education to keep children safe, every ride, every time.
