Program Overview
iLEAD & VOICE is a youth-driven leadership coalition empowering teens to use their voices for positive change. Through advocacy, teamwork, and prevention-focused projects, members develop leadership skills and promote a healthy, tobacco- and substance-free lifestyle.
About the Program
The iLEAD & VOICE Youth Coalition builds leadership and personal growth through youth-driven service and hands-on experiences. Rooted in the philosophy “iLEAD Because My VOICE Matters,” the coalition believes that youth leadership and peer-to-peer education are the most powerful tools for encouraging healthy, substance-free living.
In partnership with VOICE, Indiana’s youth-led tobacco prevention movement, iLEAD engages teens in advocacy, civic participation, and community leadership. Members collaborate on projects addressing tobacco, alcohol, and drug prevention, while learning real-world communication and teamwork skills.
National Leadership
Seven iLEAD/VOICE members attended the CADCA Forum in Washington, D.C., where they met with members of Congress, learned about prevention strategies, and expanded their national networks.
Youth Leadership Summit
Hosted a two-day overnight camp at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods for 45 youth, featuring leadership activities, prevention education, and a field trip to the Indiana Statehouse for firsthand advocacy experience.
Community Engagement
Members actively presented at Circles of Change, county and school board meetings, and organized schoolwide prevention efforts such as Red Ribbon Week.
Through these initiatives, iLEAD/VOICE members strengthen their voices, influence positive behaviors among peers, and contribute to a culture of prevention and leadership throughout Vigo County.
Focus on Leadership
iLead is a youth-driven program that focuses on leadership and personal growth through unique and engaging experiences. “iLEAD Because My VOICE Matters” believes teen leadership development and peer to peer education is the best model for developing effective resistance skills in regards to tobacco, other drugs and alcohol prevention. iLEAD partners with VOICE, the Tobacco Prevention & Cessation movement designed by youth, for youth to promote a tobacco free lifestyle.
iLEAD/VOICE provides youth the opportunity to enhance and develop leadership skills within a grassroots framework. The CORE Leadership Council works with the community to formulate social media campaigns and spearheads the annual Wabash Valley Youth Leadership Summit at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Campus. The Youth Leadership Summit is a two-day/overnight stay event filled with high energy and thoughtful skill building activities!
Engage, Empower and Educate
Who This program is open to all area middle school and high school students and is offered at no charge to the youth and their families. Where iLead sessions meet at Chances And Services for Youth (Booker T. Washington Community Center, 1101 South 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802). When iLead meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the school year.
