Brightening each holiday season with close to 400 bicycles and helmets for children in need

Unfortunately, many children in the Wabash Valley will wake up on Christmas morning without presents under the Christmas tree. Through Bikes for Tykes, we hope to brighten the holiday season for needy children of our community by providing them with a bicycle and a helmet. The goal of Bikes for Tykes is to ensure that every child in Vigo County who is in need of a bicycle will have one for the holiday season. By providing bikes to kids in need, this program gives children a form of independence and responsibility and increases their self-esteem, while fighting childhood obesity. With help from generous community members, Bikes for Tykes is able to purchase and distribute close to 400 bicycles and helmets annually. How You Can Help Bikes For Tykes Our annual goal is to provide 400 bikes and helmets at an average cost of $85 for each child. To do that, we rely on the help of generous community members. You can support Bikes for Tykes and make Christmas merrier for 400 local kids by making a donation at any First Financial Bank, at the CASY office (1101 South 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802) or through PayPal. The kids and Bikes for Tykes thank you!

Bikes For Tykes, Inc. Bikes for Tykes® was founded in 1987, in Naples, Florida and is still in operation today. According to Bikes for Tykes®, the organization was developed with the idea that any child with a bicycle on their Christmas wishlist should receive a bicycle even if their family cannot afford one. The first child to have his Christmas wish granted was Joshua, age 6. His name was on a paper angel at a local restaurant that was trying to help some local, underprivileged children have a Christmas they would not otherwise have. Joshua received his reconditioned bike and thus the Bikes for Tykes, Inc. program was born. Since then, close to 19,000 children in the Naples area has received a bright and shiny reconditioned bicycle.  https://www.bikesfortykes.org
